Federal prosecutors moved into a new arena in its prosecution of co-conspirators of Ponzi artist Scott Rothstein, charging a low-level assistant with helping the imprisoned ex-lawyer funnel illegal campaign contributions to U.S. Sen. John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign and other candidates.

Marybeth Feiss was one of two people charged Thursday with helping Rothstein pursue crimes as chairman of the Fort Lauderdale law firm Rothstein Rosenfeldt Adler.
