White & Case has hired partner Alex Zhang from Jones Day to lead its China mergers and acquisitions practice in Shanghai. Zhang also replaces partner John Leary as office head. The hire follows that of Hong Kong-based corporate partner Virginia Tam, who moved to White & Case from Jones Day in July.

White & Case has hired a new partner to lead its China mergers and acquisitions practice in Shanghai.
Alex Zhang has joined the firm from Jones Day’ Shanghai office, where he was a partner. Besides leading White & Case’s China corporate practice, he also replaces partner John Leary as office head. Leary will continue to practice at the firm as a corporate partner.
