A judge in Manhattan has issued a temporary restraining order in the first lawsuit to be filed against the court system in reaction to cutbacks imposed to close a $170 million budget hole.
Acting Justice Barbara Jaffe (See Profile) ordered the court system to pay clerks working night arraignment shifts for four additional hours of work a week as a result of scheduling changes to accommodate shortened weekend arraignment hours.
