SAN FRANCISCO &3151; The California Supreme Court today cleared an obstacle for smokers seeking to bring claims against tobacco companies over smoking-related diseases.
The statute of limitations doesn’t run out on smokers’ claims just because they suffered earlier tobacco-related illnesses, the unanimous court concluded, if the later-discovered disease is “separate and distinct” from the earlier ones.
