An immigration attorney who failed to follow court orders and showed an "indifference" to the well-being of her clients has been disbarred by a New York state appeals court panel. The "pervasiveness" of Karen Jaffe's neglect was "compounded by the vulnerability of her immigrant clients," the panel concluded. Last year, the 2nd Circuit issued an order barring Jaffe from handling cases before it after she repeatedly missed deadlines and submitted briefs written by law students that the circuit found deficient.
