The undercover informant who worked with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to secure the arrest of Columbus criminal defense attorney J. Mark Shelnutt is the lawyer’s former secretary, who now works as the secretary for the county district attorney, Shelnutt told the Fulton County Daily Report.

Shelnutt said he learned during an interview with GBI agents on Sept. 23, shortly after his arrest on drug distribution charges, that his former law firm secretary of eight years, Brandy Rivera, is the undercover informant whom agents wired for sound and video to surreptitiously record meetings, usually over lunch, with him over two months this summer.
