Jennifer Canfield simply wanted to let her employer know she “might be a little shaky in the next couple of days,” recalls Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads partner Jeremy Mishkin.
Canfield, an associate in Montgomery McCracken’s litigation department, had recently moved to Philadelphia from Idaho to be with her boyfriend, Lt. Col. Gregg Clark of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard 28th Combat Aviation Brigade, and Clark had just received word that he would be shipping out to Iraq in April 2009.
