Creator Dick Wolf used now-retired Manhattan District Attorney Robert M. Morgenthau as the model for the show's original prosecutor. But not everyone is mourning the passing of the long-running show. "As a criminal defense attorney, I am glad to see that prosecutorial drivel go away," said Gerald Shargel.
