The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Northern Indiana has been tasked with the prosecution of two Illinois men who were charged Jan. 14 with seeking to arrange the murder of a federal prosecutor in Chicago and a Drug Enforcement Administration agent.
A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Chicago declined to identify the targeted prosecutor, but court filings related to the weekend arrest of Frank Caira and Jack Mann point to earlier 2008 drug charges lodged against Caira. The drug case was being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. attorney Shoshana Leah Gillers. The new charges said Caira solicited Mann’s assistance in arranging the hits.
