The 52-year-old hasn't picked up a club in more than six months. He says he went through a spell of "playing horribly" and decided to walk away. "As of right now, I am a nongolfer," says Downs. "I took up tennis. There are no triple bogeys in tennis." But he adds that he has too many reasons to not quit the game forever.
