For only the third time in 81 years, a woman will lead the State Bar of California. Holly Fujie, a partner in Buchalter Nemer's L.A. office, was elected to the presidency on Friday -- marking the first time in State Bar history that all candidates for the top seat were female -- and will be sworn in on Sept. 27. Fujie says one of her most important missions during her one-year term will be motivating young lawyers to get involved with the Bar. "We are in trouble if we don't get them involved," she says.

Holly Fujie, 52, of Los Angeles, was elected to the Bar’s presidency late Friday by a vote of the 23-member Board of Governors. A partner in the L.A. office of Buchalter Nemer, she will be sworn in by California Chief Justice Ronald George on Sept. 27 in Monterey, during the State Bar’s annual meeting.
