As Harvard continues its search for a new president, following the January resignation of Claudine Gay, the university announced Friday that Harvard Law Dean John Manning has been appointed to serve as the university’s interim provost.

Manning, who has served as dean of the law school since 2017, will “begin a leave” from his deanship on March 14, according to a letter written by interim President Alan Garber announcing the appointment to the Harvard community. Law professor John Goldberg has been tapped to step in for Manning as interim dean following his departure.
