A Rhode Island federal judge issued a decision granting in part and denying in part Brown University’s motion to dismiss a class action complaint brought by six current and former female students that alleged “systematic mishandling of complaints of sexual misconduct made by female students to the University and its staff.”

A 69-page complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island alleged “sexual misconduct response program at Brown has been in a state of neglect and dysfunction” and that “Brown not only failed to carry out this duty but actively prevented the reporting of such harm.”
