U.S. News & World Report has unveiled its 2023 Best Graduate Schools rankings. And while Yale Law School continued its long-running streak at No. 1, there were still plenty of significant changes near the top of the list, including Harvard Law School being bumped out of the top three for the first time since 1990.

In 1990, which was the first consecutive year that U.S. News released rankings for law schools, Harvard was fifth behind Yale Law School, University of Chicago Law School, Stanford Law School and Columbia Law School. But since then—and until now—Harvard has been in the top 3.

This year, however, Harvard tied for No. 4 with Columbia Law School. UChicago Law moved into Harvard's No. 3 spot, after having tied last year with Columbia University in fourth place—so basically, Harvard and UChicago Law switched places.
