A California federal judge on Thursday invited attorneys suing Facebook in a class action over the Cambridge Analytica data privacy scandal to seek sanctions against the company and its Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher attorneys, following a special master’s finding that the company had been stonewalling during discovery.

At a Zoom hearing, U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria encouraged the plaintiffs, represented by attorneys at Keller Rohrback in Seattle and Bleichmar Fonti & Auld in Oakland, to pursue sanctions based on Facebook and the Gibson Dunn attorneys’ conduct throughout the discovery process, according to a minute entry docketed after the proceeding.
