It was a series of errors and the University of Connecticut Health Center allegedly not obeying its own rules and industry guidelines that swayed a Superior Court judge to award $37.6 million to a couple whose twin was born with severe mental and physical birth defects, according to the family’s co-counsel.

Co-counsel Michael Walsh said the facility was negligent in the January 2015 death of Shay Monroe-Lynch and the current birth defects of her brother, Joshua.
