More than two dozen lawyers and statehouse figures pleaded with California’s state bar trustees Friday to reverse an earlier decision and hire Fredericka McGee as the agency’s next executive director.

Earlier this summer the trustees offered the job to McGee, a longtime legislative attorney and current lobbyist, only to rescind the job for reasons that have not been made public, sources familiar with the matter said.
