A motorist who was badly injured in a multi-impact collision received damages at trial.

In 2013, homemaker Cary Prevatt, 38, was driving a minivan in the right lane of Interstate 75 in Tampa. In the middle lane, Roberta Wilson was driving a truck with a trailer carrying a Cadillac. She shifted into Prevatt’s lane, and the trailer sideswiped the minivan, which hit a concrete barrier on the shoulder, bounced of, hit the trailer and then hit the barrier again. Prevatt claimed permanent spinal injuries, including herniations and nerve impingement, which would require surgery.
