New Deals

In another addition to the spate of recent regional bank deals, Regions Financial Corp. and AmSouth Bancorp have agreed to a $10 billion merger. The combined bank will be the country's 13th largest. Also, German chemical manufacturer BASF AG acquired its American rival, the Engelhard Corporation, in a deal valued at $5.6 billion, and ADC Corporation acquired the Andrew Corporation, a manufacturer of global communications equipment, for $3.3 billion.
