They helped form the first U.S. venture capital fund in 1959. Thirty years later, they advised on the first institutional venture capital fund investing in Chinese companies. And now, they’re advising Chinese venture funds directly.

In 2015, Cooley represented Qiming Venture Partners, Chengwei Capital and GGV Capital in raising funds that would eventually close at more than $500 million each. Qiming, which makes early-stage investments in Chinese internet, health care, information technology and clean tech companies, raised $620 million through its fifth fund.
