SAN FRANCISCO — Standing beneath a giant rainbow flag on the steps of City Hall, Kate Kendell kicked off an early start to San Francisco’s Pride Weekend.

Kendell, the executive director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, joined a group of local officials and LGBT advocates rallying to celebrate Friday morning’s news that the U.S. Supreme Court found same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marry.
