SAN FRANCISCO — Miranda Kane, the former criminal division chief in the Northern District U.S. attorney’s office, has left Munger, Tolles & Olson to form white collar boutique Kane+Kimball with Berkeley solo William Kimball.

Kane and Kimball, who was a partner at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius prior to going out on his own in 2010, plan to focus on white collar criminal, civil and regulatory work for individual clients and small companies—work that often carries a daunting price tag at large law firms.”The reality of the way large law firms staff those cases becomes cost-prohibitive for individuals unless they are indemnified,” Kane said.
