James Strawbridge, who was general partner and chief operating officer at Worldview Technology Partners since 2001, has joined Cooley‘s Palo Alto office as a partner in the business and finance practice group. See story online.

Carroll, Burdick & McDonough has added Steven Swaney as a partner in its class action practice in the San Francisco office. He served in U.S. Attorney’s offices for Maryland and the District of Columbia.

Crowell & Moring has added partner Baird Fogel to its corporate and energy groups in San Francisco. He joins from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, where he was a member of the global project finance practice. He served in-house as the general counsel of BP Solar, as well as general counsel to a subsidiary of GE Transportation.

Steven Enochian has joined Sacramento’s Low McKinley Baleria & Salenko as a partner in its Walnut Creek office. His practice emphasizes medical malpractice defense, products liability defense, employment and business litigation, and general civil litigation.

Stubbs Alderton & Markiles has added Michael Sherman as a partner in its Sherman Oaks office. Sherman will lead the newly created business litigation practice group. Business litigator David Gubman has also joined the Sherman Oaks office as of counsel. The duo has tried cases together.

Manatt, Phelps & Phillips has added partner Jesse Brody to its advertising, marketing and media practice group in Los Angeles. He comes from Edwards Wildman Palmer, where he was a partner and cochairman of the gaming practice group. His practice focuses on legal and regulatory issues impacting the areas of advertising, entertainment, technology, new media and privacy.

Newhouse|Seroussi attorneys Michael Newhouse, Ruth Seroussi and Suzanne Henry have joined Buchalter Nemer in Los Angeles. Newhouse and Henry have become members of the litigation practice group and Seroussi a member of the litigation and labor and employment practice groups.

Burlingame’s Carr, McClellan, Ingersoll, Thompson & Horn has added Heather Srimal to its real estate practice group as senior counsel. Her practice focuses on the leasing and purchase, sale and financing of commercial property, as well as construction and development. Prior to Carr McClellan, Srimal had her own private practice.

Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom has added Nili Moghaddam to its Los Angeles litigation group as counsel. Moghaddam spent about six years with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles and received her law degree from Columbia Law School in 2002.

Litigation firm Bassi Edlin Huie & Blum has added five associates to its San Francisco office and one associate to its Los Angeles office. André Hill is focused on product liability defense, employment litigation and toxic tort litigation. Page Perry has been practicing law for eight years with an emphasis on environmental law, toxic tort and asbestos litigation, and business litigation. Andrea Kornblau graduated from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2013. Andrea Lenhardt, who has joined the firm’s Los Angeles office, defends clients against product liability and toxic tort claims. Jenn Noel Crittondon specializes in defending clients against asbestos and construction defect claims. Myles Lanzone specializes in drafting motions for summary judgment, motions in limine, motions to compel, demurrers and pleadings.

Naomi Fribourg has joined San Jose-based Hoge Fenton as an associate. Fribourg, who focuses her practice exclusively on family law, received her J.D. from UC-Hastings College of the Law in 2002.

Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart has added associate Seth Ort to its Orange County office. He joined from the Irvine office of Fisher & Phillips, and earned his J.D. from UCLA School of Law in 2012.

Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton has named Mehrnaz Boroumand Smith the new managing partner of its San Francisco office. Boroumand Smith focuses her practice on intellectual property and complex commercial litigation matters.

ACADEMIA

Catherine Crump will join UC-Berkeley School of Law in July as assistant clinical professor of law and codirector of the Samuelson Law, Technology, and Public Policy Clinic. Crump is currently a staff attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union’s speech, privacy and technology project. She is also a nonresidential fellow with the Stanford Center for Internet and Society.
