SACRAMENTO — Five consumer groups have asked U.S. District Judge Edward Davila to block the cy pres distribution plans lawyers have proposed as part of an $8.5 million Google search class action settlement.

In a letter sent to the San Jose judge on Tuesday, the groups said that the seven organizations selected to receive funds are more aligned with the interests of class counsel and Google than the interests of consumers.
