SAN FRANCISCO — Shareholders of a New York-based telecommunications company have filed a legal malpractice suit against Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian over a failed merger.

Gunderson Dettmer acted as counsel for Vivaro Corp. in its 2010 sale to Texas-based Progress International for roughly $10.7 million, according to the complaint filed last week in San Mateo County Superior Court.
