SAN FRANCISCO — Pillsbury has poached a corporate partner from Sheppard Mullin to further its practice in Silicon Valley.

Riaz Karamali, who shepherds startups from inception to exit, joined Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman on Thursday. Although he is a Valley veteran, Karamali has been involved in a growing number of cross-border transactions, and he is eager to help connect Bay Area venture capital firms with emerging companies in Houston and Abu Dhabi. Pillsbury has invested heavily in both regions.
