SAN FRANCISCO — When CNN brought an anti-SLAPP motion to try to beat back a lawsuit that would require captioning on its website, Disability Rights Advocates’ Laurence Paradis says he couldn’t believe it.

"We were shocked to be told by CNN that this was an attempt to limit their speech," Paradis told the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on Monday. "We’re just asking for the same kind of captioning you see on TV on the Internet."
