SAN FRANCISCO — The plaintiffs bar says it hopes this is the year it’ll finally lift the MICRA cap.

For 37 years the law has put a limit on pain and suffering damages in medical malpractice cases. While plaintiffs lawyer Christopher Dolan attempts a courtroom challenge, his allies within the Consumer Attorneys of California are looking to Democratic super-majorities in the Capitol to help them craft a legislative fix — and the CAOC’s former president told a crowd of members earlier this month that Governor Jerry Brown had indicated he’d sign it.
