SACRAMENTO — The state Supreme Court may finally be on the cusp of welcoming its seventh permanent member.

In Los Angeles on Thursday, Gov. Jerry Brown told reporters he would be interviewing judicial candidates before heading to an event in Blythe on Friday. That fueled speculation that the governor is zeroed in on Southern Californians Thomas Saenz, president and general counsel of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, and Christopher David Ruiz Cameron, a Southwestern Law School professor.
