Fenwick & West‘s Stephen Graham just finished up an overnight deal. Literally.

The “overnight,” which Graham did for client ZymoGenetics Inc., is when a company raises money with a public offering, but first tests the waters by marketing itself secretly to institutional investors. The name comes because after generating sufficient interest from institutional investors, the offering is announced to the public after the close of the stock market.
