SAN FRANCISCO — Addressing what has long been a source of frustration among many in the Bay Area, President Obama nominated the Northern District’s first Asian-American Article III judge Friday.

Magistrate Judge Edward Chen got the nod from the White House, after U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein had recommended him for the slot in the spring. The Obama administration on Friday also nominated Feinstein’s other Northern District suggestion, Magistrate Judge Richard Seeborg.
