A flight by China Eastern Yunnan Airlines (CEYA) from Baotou to Shanghai crashed shortly after takeoff, killing forty-seven passengers. All passengers had purchased their tickets in China and all but one were Chinese citizens. CEYA’s operations and maintenance facilities were at Wu Jia Ba Airport in Kunming, Yunnan, China. The airplane was operated and maintained exclusively in China.
