Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr strengthened its relationship with Meta in 2023, generating $75 million in legal fees from the tech giant, a 12% increase from the $67 million it received a year earlier, a new regulatory filing shows.

The tab that major public companies run up with outside law firms rarely slides into public view. However, Meta was obligated to disclose the extent of its Wilmer dealings to comply with U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission rules governing potential of conflicts of interest, including the one it faces: having an attorney on its board of directors whose law firm receives a gusher of fees from the company.
