PBF Energy and Martinez Refining Co. were hit with a toxic tort lawsuit on Nov. 28 in California Northern District Court. The suit, filed by Cotchett Pitre & McCarthy on behalf of Alena Cruz and Shannon Payne, seeks to enjoin the defendants from emitting excessive levels of toxic dust and other contaminants from a refinery in the suburbs of San Francisco. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 3:23-cv-06142, Cruz et al. v. PBF Energy Inc. et al.
