The chief judge for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California is set to take senior status, a form of semiretirement, after 13 years as a district judge.

Chief U.S. District Judge Kimberly Mueller of the Eastern District of California notified the White House of her plans to “go senior” in a letter Thursday. The Obama-appointee plans to take senior status starting Sept. 17, 2024.
