Four of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s nominees to California’s courts of appeal were all easily confirmed Monday in hearings before the Commission on Judicial Appointments.

The confirmation votes were all unanimous and at times the proceedings seemed more like celebrations than ratifications, with commission members asking few probing questions of the nominees. Chief Justice Patricia Guerrero and Attorney General Rob Bonta participated in all four confirmation hearings while Acting Administrative Presiding Justice Ronald Robie cast a vote for the lone candidate in the Third District and senior Presiding Justice Arthur Gilbert voted on nominees to his Second District court.
