Lawyers at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith on Thursday removed a lawsuit against the U.S. Center for SafeSport, a nonprofit which aims to prevent sexual abuse of athletes, to California Southern District Court. The suit was filed on behalf of former Olympic equestrian Ali Nilforushan, who was banned from equestrian sports for alleged verbal harassment of another equestrian during a public confrontation regarding an investigation of a third party. According to the complaint, SafeSport ignored several eyewitnesses’ claims that the plaintiff did not harass or threaten the alleged victim, who appeared to be intoxicated at the time of the confrontation. The suit was filed by Caddell & Chapman. The case is 3:23-cv-00353, Nilforushan v. U.S Center for SafeSport.
