Patricia Guerrero, whose meteoric legal career took her from the farmlands of the Imperial Valley to California’s Supreme Court, was confirmed on Friday as the state’s next chief justice.
In a hearing more ceremonial than probing, the Commission on Judicial Appointments unanimously approved the associate justice’s elevation to lead the court and California’s judiciary.
