Wilson Elser filed a lawsuit against VF Corp., a North Carolina-based apparel company, on Tuesday in California Central District Court. The suit was filed on behalf of Charles Gray, a former vice president of product supply for VF’s Timberland footwear brand. The complaint contends that although Gray was assigned to work in Hong Kong, his “home country” designation was California, and therefore a non-compete clause in his employment contract is unenforceable under California law. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 5:22-cv-01217, Gray v. VF Corp. et al.
