H&R Block Inc. may be known for low-cost tax preparation, but it’s going for high-end lawyers in its trademark suit against Block Inc., having tapped Debevoise & Plimpton IP Litigation chief David Bernstein.

Block Inc., formerly known as Square, has now brought out its own big guns to the dispute. Block has tapped Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan’s trademark practice leader Margret Caruso plus Diane Doolittle, co-chair of the firm’s national trial practice group, in the run-up to a February 10 hearing on H&R Block’s motion to enjoin Block Inc. from using the name.
