Robert Girardi, the brother and temporary conservator of troubled trial attorney Tom Girardi, attempted to relinquish his brother’s law license late Friday, a move that the state bar quickly rejected.

In a letter to the bar dated March 12, Robert Girardi said he was tendering Tom Girardi’s resignation. Tom Girardi is under scrutiny by the bar and by his law firm’s creditors for allegedly misappropriating millions of dollars in client funds. A psychiatrist told a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge last week that Girardi has Alzheimer’s disease.
