State lawmakers on Tuesday pressed judiciary leaders for answers about how they plan to clear a backlog of cases that has amassed during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in California’s largest courts.

But those leaders did not offer specifics during a legislative hearing on COVID’s impact on the courts, even when asked how much money the branch needs to clear the backlog. They said only that the Judicial Council continues to collect operations data and will not prescribe statewide solutions to individual courts.
