The State Bar of California on Monday sued LegalMatch.com, accusing the online company headquartered in San Francisco of illegally operating a lawyer referral service.

LegalMatch, which advertises it has helped more than 4 million clients “find the right lawyer” since launching in 1999, is not registered with the bar as required by law, according to the complaint filed in San Francisco Superior Court.
