California’s legislative analyst raised new questions Wednesday about the state bar’s request for a hefty increase in licensing fees.

The analyst’s office, a policy and fiscal adviser to the Legislature, concluded in a report that while some elements of the bar’s request for a $100 hike in annual dues plus $330 in one-time charges have merit, others are “premature, unjustified, or otherwise problematic.”
