SACRAMENTO—Gov. Jerry Brown on Monday appointed 23 trial court judges, including four in the Bay Area.
S. Raj Chatterjee, a partner at Antolin Agarwal and Chatterjee, will join the Alameda County Superior Court bench. Chatterjee, a former partner at Morrison & Foerster for 20 years, opened a litigation boutique in San Francisco last month.
At Morrison & Foerster, Chatterjee was part of a team that in 2012 defended Oakland from a federal crackdown on medical marijuana in the city. Chatterjee also represented plaintiffs who sued the FBI in 2010 when the agency did not respond to requests for documents related to its surveillance of Bay Area Muslim groups. He was also part of the defense team for John Walker Lindh, the Marin County native who pleaded guilty in 2002 to aiding the Taliban.
