The trial of the century has turned into a track meet on appeal.
Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. are in a frantic race to see which judgment can be finalized first: a $930 million jury award, reduced this spring to $548 million on appeal, or a Patent Trial and Appeal board decision in December invalidating one of Apple’s patents in the case.
