SAN FRANCISCO — U.S. District Judge William Alsup of the Northern District of California on Thursday certified a class of Apple Inc. retail employees in California in a suit over the company’s bag-search policy.

Plaintiffs lawyers at McLaughlin & Stern and The Kralowec Law Group are seeking compensation for time employees spent in security checks that Apple put in place to prevent theft of its much-in-demand devices.
