SACRAMENTO — Eileen Decker, a deputy mayor of Los Angeles for the past six years, was confirmed Thursday by the U.S. Senate to serve as the top federal prosecutor in the Central District of California.

Decker fills the vacancy created by Andre Birotte Jr., who stepped down as U.S. attorney last year to become a judge on the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
