SACRAMENTO — A San Jose software developer has sued Rocket Lawyer Inc., claiming the online legal-services provider failed to pay him 200,000 shares in company stock that he was owed in a technology and software deal.

In a complaint filed Tuesday in San Francisco Superior Court, Cube Co. co-founder Joel Christner said Rocket Lawyer agreed last year to acquire his company’s assets “to provide a more robust array of services to target customers and clients in the legal industry.” In exchange, Christner would receive 200,000 shares of Rocket Lawyer stock and go to work for the San Francisco-based company on Oct. 1, 2014, he said.
