SAN FRANCISCO — Lawyers for The Walt Disney Co. failed to knock out a copyright lawsuit claiming the studio’s animators ripped off the concept for a trailer for its animated hit “Frozen.”

In a ruling Thursday, U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria of the Northern District of California found that there was a reasonable possibility that Mill Valley animator Kelly Wilson could show that the Disney animators who worked on a two-minute teaser for “Frozen” had an opportunity to view or copy her 4 1/2-minute short film titled “The Snowman.”
